GODRIC
HUMAN RELATIONS
(American Bulldog, Purebred)
Like his “brother” Archer, Godric is also a rescue, though we know even less about his past than Archer’s! What we do know is that this big, goofy boy wants nothing more than to be your best friend. Thoroughly excited to see/meet you, Godric will make sure that you feel the love as he lifts your spirit with his unfettered enthusiasm. He is as big a ham as they come, and your smile and some pets are the only things that can satiate his attention-lust.
TRIFFID
APPRENTICE
(American Pit-Bull Terrier)
Triffid is the newest member of the family! He is an energetic and lovable puppy (roughly 1 year old), and sometimes he has a hard time containing his excitement; he wants to play, play, play! Triffid was surrendered to The Denver Dumb Friends League as a stray, so (once again) we have very little backstory on him. He knew some basic commands and is learning new ones quickly. He and Godric have become brothers, and Triffid delights in terrorizing Godric, not unlike his predecessor Archer did. This very sweet and happy boy is starting to get comfortable in his new forever home, and his personality is definitely starting to blossom. Buckle up, there is mischief in this child!
ARCHER
(1/12/2014 - 5/18/2022)
Archer was the epitome of a special child. He was rescued from an animal hoarder in New Mexico with over 25 other dogs, all German Shepherd/Mixes. The Dumb Friends League discovered a large mass in his lower intestine that turned out to be a bedsheet. 1/4 of his intestine had to be removed during the surgery to remove the blockage. When we met him he still had all the staples from his surgery, and he smelled horrific. Skin and bones. Dissociated. But during the visit he pressed his head against my chest, and it was all over. I knew this wonder child was coming home with us. The shelter warned us that he would need special care and attention and that he may never fully recover from his trauma both physically and mentally.
For 8 years, this beautiful boy defied all odds. It wasn't always easy, and sometimes it was heart-breaking to watch him struggle. He would fall asleep standing up, frequently tipping himself over in the process. For years (upwards of 5) he refused to sit or lay down. He had trust issues, was not fond of being touched, and could be unpredictable at times. But we never gave up on him and kept pouring our love into him.
By the end, Archer was the sweetest snuggle-bug you had ever met. If you sat down, he would sit in your lap. He loved to lay under the trees in the backyard and snooze. Rocketball was ALWAYS a fun pastime, and he played up until the day he passed. He exceeded every expectation ever set for him and became a magnificently good boy. He was a wing-nut up until the very end and that is exactly how I will always remember him.
We love you Baby Boy. We miss you.
